Hide sensitive info when you share your screen in Microsoft Teams

Updated October 21, 2026

Internal reviews, customer calls and training sessions in Teams often mean sharing tools full of real data. ScreenShield hides the sensitive parts in Chrome so you can share without preparing a sanitized copy.

Teams in the browser

When you use Teams in Chrome, at teams.microsoft.com, teams.live.com or teams.cloud.microsoft, Presentation Mode can turn on by itself:

  1. Click Share in your meeting and choose a tab, a window or your screen.
  2. ScreenShield notices that sharing started and turns on Presentation Mode (Pro). Emails, phone numbers, card numbers, keys and tokens are hidden in every open tab, and your other tabs' titles are masked.
  3. When you stop sharing, Presentation Mode turns off again.

The Teams desktop app

If you share from the Teams app, turn protection on in Chrome yourself before you share:

  1. Press Alt+Shift+M, or open the ScreenShield popup and turn on Presentation Mode.
  2. In Teams, share your Chrome window rather than your whole screen when you can.
  3. Press Alt+Shift+M again when the call is over.

Prepare a page once, reuse it every call

Blurs you add by hand are saved for each site and come back every time you open it, on the free plan too. For a dashboard you show every week:

  1. Open it and choose Blur similar in the popup, then click one customer name or email to cover the whole column.
  2. Use Draw area for charts and panels, and Click to blur for single numbers.
  3. Press Esc. Next week, the page opens already blurred.

With Pro, you can also make a blur apply to every page of a site, add your customers' names as keywords, and switch to solid black bars if your team prefers them to a blur.
