What's new
What changed in each version of ScreenShield.
3.0 October 2026
A rebuild from the ground up, focused on hiding things before anyone sees them.
Free, with no limits
- Click to blur, Draw area and Blur similar have no limits on any page. Blur similar used to be part of Pro.
- Blurs are saved for each site and come back when you return, even after restarting Chrome.
- Blur strength and hiding tab titles are now free.
- New: scan any page for emails and phone numbers, then blur them all at once.
- New: a panic key, Alt+Shift+H, hides the whole screen instantly.
- New: right-click menu, and a toolbar on the page while you pick things to blur.
New in Pro
- Automatic detection of 16 kinds of sensitive info on every site, including card numbers, IBANs, API keys, tokens and private keys.
- Presentation Mode: turns on by itself when you share in Meet, Zoom or Teams on the web, protects every tab and masks tab titles.
- Your own keywords and regular expressions, with a test box.
- Black bars, site-wide rules, protected screenshots, and backup to a file.
Under the hood
- Saved blurs are applied while the page loads, so nothing flashes on screen first.
- Text is hidden without rewriting the page, so web apps keep working normally.
- Works inside frames and modern web components.
- A new design with light and dark themes, a welcome guide and a practice page.
- Available in 19 languages.
If you subscribed before 3.0, you keep your current price, and every new Pro feature is already on.
ScreenShield 3.0 needs Chrome 125 or later.
2.0 2026
Element and area blurring, undo and redo, keyboard shortcuts, and Pro with adjustable blur strength, permanent blurs, tab title hiding and batch blur.
